Cannondale Mountain Bike Frames

Cannondale mountain bike frames are commonplace among cycling enthusiasts, winning design awards and major cycling competitions at the same time by virtue of their high-end design.

The company has two main frame designs, one that uses carbon and aluminum, and an aluminum-only series. The former is found in the SuperSix and Six series bikes, and is a composite carbon alloy frame with one to three carbon tubes depending on the model. The SuperSix models, which is a favorite racing series for the pros, offers top-notch steering and power transfer, with an oversized one-piece bottom bracket and chain stay unit that is ultra-stiff. Of note to pedalers: the aluminum spindle and ceramic bearings are just 30mm and offer less resistance than a traditional mountain bike frame.

The aluminum Cannonade mountain bike frames carry the CAAD label, which stands for Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design. Now up to the CAAD 9 series, these farms are light, but easy to handle and with massive acceleration, thanks in part to the power pyramid down tube that tapers from the head tube to the bottom bracket for additional impact resistance and lateral stiffness. They also are a little stiffer than the CAAD8 models, with reduced weight.

Finally, Cannonade has an all-carbon frame, the Synapse, which has been a hit because of its vibration-dampening properties and high performance. That helps increase rider comfort, maximizing the pedaling power transfer to allow riders to avoid fatigue.
