Trek mountain bike frames have been trail-worthy ever since they came into business, and now that Trek is in its fourth decade its frames have only gotten better with the company's age. Currently, Trek has frames made from OCLV carbon, TCT carbon, and aluminum.
Three different Trek mountain bike frames are made from OCLV carbon. The OCLV Red is the premier model, made with a high percentage of high modulus carbon fire. OCLV Black frames are the company's high performance carbon fire, with intermediate modulus carbon. Finally, OCLV White frames use mostly standard modulus carbon fiber.
TCT stands for Trek Carbon Technology, and the TCT frames are a great value for those looking for the lightness of carbon construction at a reasonable price.

Of the three aluminum Trek mountain bike frames, the Alpha Red is the premium aluminum alloy, made from ZR9000 or 7000 series aluminum designed and shaped for the best weight-to-strength ration. The Alpha Black series is another high-performance alloy, made from 6000-series aluminum. The Alpha White series uses straight gauge 6000 series aluminum, and is the best value.
